2018 New England College Officiating Camp

April 14th and 15th at the University Sports Complex/Starland Sports in Hanover, MA

We would like to welcome all prospective College Officials from our High School ranks to consider joining us this year at our 2018 edition of the N.E. College Officiating Camp to be conducted on April 14th and 15th at The University Sports Complex in Hanover, Massachusetts.   This camp has a segment which is specifically designed for prospective Men’s College Officials interested in pursuing Collegiate Basketball Officiating. The New England College Officiating Camp is committed to the training, development, exposure and recruitment of existing Division 3 College Officials, as well as, High School Officials and prospective candidates for future consideration to our New England College Officiating staff. This camp is run in conjunction with the prestigious/elite "Northeast Hoops Festival ", showcasing the finest high school players from the East. Our mission is to provide Officials instruction, training, development, but more importantly, the exposure to New England College Coordinators/Supervisors Larry Last, and Mike Stephens.  The “exposure aspect” of our camp is our main focus and has helped give many Officials the opportunity to develop and interact while being seen by New England’s College Coordinators.  Last year New England College Officiating brought on to our Officiating staff 10 new Officials, all a direct result of the exposure received during the New England tryout segment at our New England College Officiating Camp.   The New England College staff tryout for our 2018/19 New England Officiating staff will be conducted at our camp by myself, and Mike Stephens, and assisted by representatives from CBOA.   It will always be my intent to run this camp with a MINIMAL COST ($200) to the Official while providing the very best player talent for our campers to officiate.  This is a day camp, which will allow us to keep the cost manageable, but overnight accommodations are available at a reasonable rate (ask for the managers special) for those in need at a special camp rate.  Lodging at the Comfort INN, 850 Hingham Street, Rockland, Ma has reserved blocks of rooms for our campers at the “manager special rate”.  TK O’Shea’s, located next door to the Comfort INN, will provide our campers and staff with food and drinks for our evening social.  All games/courts are 3 man officiated, observed, and critiqued.   We will have video courts for all our officials and provide DVD’s to all from our A/V staff.  Classroom instruction is always a highlight of any camp and we will provide some spirited discussion.  The video game film session will be provided by our camp clinicians and Collegiate Officials.  My staff of observers and clinicians will include some of the most experienced and respected collegiate officials in New England, as well as, Coordinators Mike Stephens (one of the nation’s finest D1 Officials),  and myself, Larry Last, Director of Men’s Basketball Officiating.   The opportunity to get this type of exposure by New England's Coordinators/Supervisors, in a setting such as the University Sports Complex in Hanover, Ma. will prove most valuable to any prospective candidate considering College Officiating.  I believe this will be one of the finest camps to work, while making this an affordable option.  Please consider joining us this year and taking advantage of our efforts to give you something of absolute value.  For those interested in trying out for our New England College officiating staffs we would like applicants to join us as campers to better evaluate each applicant.  We have found that seeing an applicant over the span of several games gives us a better read on applicants abilities.  Please download the Camp application and waiver below.
